Chairman: Mr. Peter J. Boni

Peter BoniPeter J. Boni is the Chairperson of the TechAmerica Board of Directors and the President and CEO of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.

As President and Chief Executive Officer of Safeguard, Peter J. Boni draws on more than 25 years of experience as the CEO of technology companies in all stages of growth, and as an operating partner with a large global private equity firm. With both the deal savvy and operating expertise that a successful career affords, Peter is responsible for developing and executing Safeguard’s corporate strategy. His goal is to build on the company’s legacy of identifying businesses in the Technology and Life Sciences sectors with superior growth potential, and applying Safeguard’s capital and strategic, operational and management resources to enhance long-term value for shareholders, partner companies and employees.

Peter is recognized as a leader in both building businesses and restoring troubled companies to growth and profitability. In addition to acting as CEO for several publicly-traded and privately-held companies, he has served as a chairman, a Fortune 500 corporate executive, a NYSE Fortune 1000 president, a management consultant, board member, investor and advisor to institutional investors in both early- and later-stage hardware, software and technology-enabled services firms. After his CEO experience, Peter served as an Operating Partner at Advent International, a leading global private equity firm managing $10 billion.

Vice-Chairman: Mr. Dennis Stolkey

Dennis StolkeyDennis Stolkey is the Vice-Chairperson of the TechAmerica Board of Directors and the senior vice president of the U.S. Public Sector for HP Enterprise Services. He is responsible for the business unit’s performance and relationships with U.S. federal, state, and local government customers and senior military officers. Stolkey most recently held a similar position at EDS, now HP.

Previously, Stolkey led several key areas within EDS, including vice president of U.S. Communications, Media & Entertainment. In addition, he led Global Network Design and Operations. He also had executive oversight for aspects of the EDS Bank of America account.

Stolkey also served as vice president of the U.S. Communications industry group, and as president of EDS General Motors (GM) North America.

Stolkey joined EDS in 1985 to support telecommunications initiatives. In 1989, he became division vice president. He was appointed vice president of Airline Services in 1993 and later named division vice president of Airline Services and Global Airline Accounts.

From 1995 to 1997, Stolkey held various presidential positions within the Travel, Transportation, and Logistics strategic business unit and eventually led this unit. Late in 1997, he assisted EDS and GM in developing new information technology outsourcing (ITO) products.

Stolkey was senior executive for the EDS BellSouth account in 1998. Later, he was promoted to president, Information Solutions. Before joining EDS, Stolkey spent 20 successful years in the telecommunications industry.

Immediate Past Chairman: Mr. Henry Steininger

Hank SteiningerHank Steininger, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton’s Global Public Sector practice, served as the Chairman of TechAmerica’s Board of Directors from  2009-2010.  He was the ITAA Chairman of the Board prior to the merger with AEA.

As Managing Partner of the public sector business for Grant Thornton, Steininger is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of Grant Thornton’s government business worldwide. He first joined the firm in 1994 and has held several positions, including U.S. Chief Operating Officer and Partnership Board member. Before joining Grant Thornton he held leadership positions at Ernst and Young (Arthur Young) in information technology, management consulting, accounting and auditing.

Steininger has been Chairman of ITAA’s Public Sector Group and Enterprise Solutions Boards of Directors. He is currently Chairman of the Association of Government Accountants Corporate Partners Advisory Board and a member of the Washington Federal City Council.

As Chairman of ITAA’s Public Sector Group, Hank was instrumental in elevating the association’s focus on the State & Local Government marketplace, and in enhancing the IT industry’s collective voice on public sector policy issues such as procurement reform.  He has also served as Chairman of ITAA’s Audit Committee.
