About This Program

TechAmerica Orange County unveiled 2010 High-Tech Innovation Awards Winners, June 2, 2010, at Hyatt Regency Irvine, 5:30PM – 9PM.  As one of Orange County’s most prestigious and longest standing business functions (17 years), the event drew nearly 350 luminaries from local high-tech companies, financial and government institutions, as well as academic leaders, educators, students, and investors.

With Executive Editor and “OC Insider” Columnist Rick Reiff as Master of Ceremonies, and Disney Institute Program Facilitator Bruce Kimbrell delivering the keynote, the awards program recognized outstanding achievements and innovation by Orange County’s technology leaders.  Awards were given in several categories, including Greg Ross Community Service; Innovation In Education, Outstanding Company, Outstanding CEO, Outstanding Product (w. sub-categories) and Green Engineering.

Every year tech industry representatives nominate innovative leaders, companies, and product(s) to promote their technology, increase their company’s visibility in the industry, receive industry-wide recognition for their innovators and innovations, and boost company morale by honoring their innovative teams.   We received just under 100 nominations for this year’s awards programs, a record number!  There were many outstanding nominees, and the judges had to make the tough decision of narrowing the number down to 43 finalists, and 13 honorees.

“TechAmerica is proud to honor all the finalists and winners of this year’s High-Tech Innovation Awards,” said Bob Brunson, associate director of TechAmerica Orange County. “Many innovative companies make Orange County their base of operation. In addition to driving the local economy, these companies, educators and students are inventing the future with products and services that make life easier, safer and more convenient for everyone.”

In partnership with Project Tomorrow and Emulex, TechAmerica also highlighted OC’s best in Innovation in Education during a special segment featuring the following categories: Innovative School Program of the Year in Science, Math and Technology; High Impact Teacher of the Year in Science, Math and Technology; and Emerging Student Innovator.

Finalists and the recipients of High-Tech Awards were recognized during a special dinner presentation.  Prior to the dinner, attendees,  including Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang, mixed and mingled during the Technology Business Showcase, featuring 15 participating companies.
