Government acquisition of Information Technology today is often recognized as being too slow for the pace of innovation. Government oversight necessitates transparency, and often to a degree beyond the needs of commercial markets. Can equilibrium be reached to build on the 15-year-old reforms that created preferences for commercial products and assured taxpayers that their money was being invested wisely? Can this be done while delivering the latest technology to warfighter?

Join TechAmerica to hear the latest Administration and Congressional initiatives to update and reform the acquisition of information technology by the Department of Defense, understand the impediments to achieving reform and explore how those initiatives could apply government wide.

Keynote Speaker

Tim Harp, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for C3ISR and IT Acquisition

Mr. Harp will report on the status of the Department response to Section 804 of the FY10 Defense Authorization Act requiring DoD to develop and implement a new acquisition process for information technology.
