PS Federal Committee

This committee represents the interests of IT vendors in the federal civilian government marketplace. Since its inception, the committee has been an invaluable resource to members on issues such as technology trends, key issues and challenges affecting CIOs and CXOs, and allowing members to optimize business and networking opportunities. The members focus on business development and government customer interface. During 2008, the members are reviewing the IPv6 implementation, the President’s Management Agenda, LOBs, and e-government status. A new task group on Managed Services was just added.

The members focus on business development and government customer interface. This is done through a series of programs and activities that aim to bring government customers before its members to discuss issues of mutual interest. Some of its signature programs include its monthly dinner series for senior government officials, its annual CIO survey, and its task groups which focus on issues of special interest to IT vendors. The Federal Committee meets monthly except for August and December--usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Its many task groups meet according to need. Please contact Olga Grkavac at olga.grkavac@techamerica.org, if you have questions about this Committee.

  • Chairman: Larry Konefal, Cisco
  • Vice Chair: Debbie Granberry, SRA

More About The Annual CIO Survey
Information security remains the greatest challenge facing federal Chief Information Officers (CIOs) according the 18th Annual CIO Survey, released by ITAA and Grant Thornton LLP. Standardization and consolidation of the federal IT infrastructure also is high on the list of to dos for 2008, according to survey respondents.

The survey reports data from in-person interviews with federal CIOs from civilian, homeland security and defense agencies in the executive branch, as well as key officials from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Congress. The full survey can be obtained via the following link: www.itaa.org/upload/news/docs/2008CIOSurveyFinal.pdf

More On The Federal Dinner Series
Since 1988, the Federal Committee has hosted almost monthly dinners with a key government official as guest speaker. The members prepare questions in advance to ask the government guest. Most of the Federal agency CIOs and other senior government officials have been guests. Members of the Federal Committee bid for reservations at the dinners, and every member is given an opportunity to attend. A new dinner series with Chief Financial Officers was launched in 2004 in conjunction with AGA.
