This committee monitors and responds to all legislation and regulations that affect technology vendors in the Federal marketplace.  The PPC works actively with Congress to represent the industry’s views on key legislative issues, testifies before Congressional Committees when appropriate, drafts position papers on key issues, and responds to draft FAR regulations.  Senior congressional staff members are invited to meetings on a regular basis to address current topics.  The Committee meets the second Wednesday of each month from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Subcommittees

  • GSA Subcommittee
    Focuses on the GSA Schedules, GWACs, and other major contract vehicles like Networx and Alliant, and meets regularly with GSA officials.  The subcommittee members are especially interested in the activities of the Federal Acquisition Service.  The Committee meets the second Wednesday of each month from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. EST.  For more information, contact Olga Grkavac at olga.grkavac@techamerica.org.
  • Past Performance
    This Task Group monitors how the federal government maintains past performance data on IT vendors, with particular focus on the databases used to collect past performance data – including FPDS-NG, PPIRS, CPARS and the new AOCS and FAIIPS.
  • Regulatory Subcommittee
    This Subcommittee monitors all Federal regulatory actions for proposals and final rules that impact the government market environment.  The committee is responsible for crafting the comments to these proposals and developing a strategy to engage in the regulatory promulgation process to achieve a favorable outcome.
  • Section 508 Task Group
    This Task Group focuses on implementation of Section 508 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.  It also monitors international and state activities similar to Section 508 and related standards.  The US Access Board announced its intention to update the guidelines for Section 508, and TechAmerica was appointed to its advisory committee.  The Access Board is expected to publish the new accessibility standards in late 2009.  For more information, contact Olga Grkavac at olga.grkavac@techamerica.org.
  • Supply Chain Assurance Task Group
    This group focuses on the various government efforts to secure the supply chain of the public sector from malicious attempts to modify products and services entering that supply chain and their attempts to alter that supply chain using the acquisition authority of the Federal government.

  • Acquisition Reform Working Group (ARWG)
    TechAmerica is a member of the Acquisition Reform Working Group (ARWG), which is an industry trade association coalition formed around government contracting.  The coalition has been active for over 2 decades and provides proactive legislative recommendations to the Congress, as well as evaluates and provides industry perspective back to Congress on contracting issues in legislative proposals.  The Coalition is comprised of the Aerospace Industries Association, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the American Council of Independent Laboratories, the National Defense Industrial Association, the Professional Services Council, TechAmerica, The Associated General Contractors of America, The Coalition for Government Procurement and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  For more information, please contact Trey Hodgkins, Senior Vice-President for National Security & Procurement Policy at thodgkins@techamerica.org or 703-284-5310.

EAST CENTRAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE LADY WARRIORS, ITAWAMBA MEET IN 1ST – ROUND MACJC STATE TOURNEY ACTION

US Fed News Service, Including US State News February 25, 2012 DECATUR, Miss., Feb. 24 — East Central Community College issued the following news release:

East Central Community College’s Lady Warriors begin first-round MACJC State Basketball Tournament action by taking on top North seed and tournament host Itawamba Community College at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton campus. go to web site east central community college

The East Central women, who quailed for the single elimination event as the South’s No. 4 seed with a 7-5 division mark, hope the third time will be the charm in defeating the highly regarded Lady Indians who received votes in the latest NJCAA poll.

Itawamba, which finished the regular season at 21-2 overall and 12-0 in league play, swept the season series with EC by scores of 99-63 and 76-66.

The Lady Warriors got off to rough start at 0-11 under seventh-year head coach Bill Smith, but the squad rallied to win eight of the following nine contests before completing the regular season with narrow defeats to South top-seed Copiah-Lincoln and No. 2 Pearl River.

Other matchups in first-round women’s action Tuesday include Co-Lin and Northeast at 1 p.m., followed by Holmes and Jones County at 3 p.m. and Pearl River and Coahoma at 8 p.m. go to website east central community college

Semi-finals are scheduled at 1 and 6 p.m. Wednesday.
