State Government Affairs

The TechAmerica State Government Affairs Program (SGA) is a 50-state advocacy operation on behalf of TechAmerica’s Member Companies.  It is overseen by the State Government Affairs Committee, which holds three in-person meetings every year.  SGA is the only advocacy network of its kinds in the industry, with the ability to be on the ground impacting an issue in any given state on moment’s notice.

Jim Wall, Microsoft

“It’s impossible to be in every state capitol everyday to lobby for or against bills that affect our bottom line.  TechAmerica’s state government affairs team sure makes my job a lot easier.”

-    Jim Wall, Regional Government Affairs Director, Microsoft, at a TechAmerica State Government Affairs meeting

About the SGA Program: Overview

The TechAmerica SGA network includes on the ground in-house professionals in California, Texas, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, and Florida.  Additionally, through our affiliation with the regional high-tech trade associations of TECNA and our contract lobbyists in other states, TechAmerica has a true 50-state network.

SGA is broken down into two sections for coverage – Regional Managers and Policy Committees.  Regional managers monitor all legislative developments in a given region and report back to relevant policy committees on any developments that might be of interest.  They also manage TechAmerica’s relationships with all contract lobbyists in their region.

Policy Committees hold meeting and phone calls to develop state policies and keep TechAmerica’s member companies apprised of emerging policy issues in all 50-states on their issues.
