About the SGA Program: Overview

The TechAmerica SGA network includes on the ground in-house professionals in California, Texas, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, and Florida.  Additionally, through our affiliation with the regional high-tech trade associations of TECNA and our contract lobbyists in other states, TechAmerica has a true 50-state network.

SGA is broken down into two sections for coverage – Regional Managers and Policy Committees.  Regional managers monitor all legislative developments in a given region and report back to relevant policy committees on any developments that might be of interest.  They also manage TechAmerica’s relationships with all contract lobbyists in their region.

Policy Committees hold meeting and phone calls to develop state policies and keep TechAmerica’s member companies apprised of emerging policy issues in all 50-states on their issues.

The regional breakdown can be found on the below map.  If you have a question about an issue in a given state, please contact the appropriate regional manager.

Mission

The National State Government Affairs mission is to advocate on behalf of the TechAmerica membership on issues of importance to the technology industries in the states.

Achieving the Mission

The National State Government Affairs (SGA) is the principal state governmental affairs organization representing the interests of the technology community in all fifty state capitols.  Semi-annually, the committee hosts a meeting of high-tech state governmental affairs professionals from across the nation who gather to discuss important issues affecting the technology industries at the state level and develop strategies through which TechAmerica’s State Government Affairs program helps to address their legislative needs.

This committee helps guide the overall direction of the organization’s state governmental affairs program and is an appropriate venue for all state government-related issues.

Who participates?

The typical committee participants are government relations professionals and in-house counsels  at companies interested in technology issues in the states.
