Washington, DC – TechAmerica, the technology industry’s leading trade association, today announced the appointment of Daniel A. Varroney, the association’s Chief Operating Officer as interim CEO. Former President & CEO, Phil Bond has chosen to leave the organization to pursue a new opportunity. The transition will be effective immediately.
Mr. Varroney brings his extensive leadership experience in the private sector, public sector, and Capitol Hill to TechAmerica. He is no stranger to successfully leading major organizations to unprecedented growth, having served as President and COO of American Solutions, President and CEO of the Association for Corporate Growth and, for much of his career, in several positions including Senior Vice President with the National Association of Manufacturers.
Mr. Bond, who led TechAmerica through a period of integration and growth during his three years as CEO, was the chief architect of the successful merger of the four leading technology trade associations to form TechAmerica.
“Some five and half years ago, it was Phil’s initiative that launched the effort to combine strengths and skills and rebrand them “TechAmerica,” the largest advocacy group representing the U.S. technology sector. He has been an effective and visible voice for the association, and we wish him success in his new endeavor,” said Peter J. Boni, Chairman of the TechAmerica Board of Directors and President & CEO of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE:SFE).
“I am leaving to pursue another opportunity, but continue to believe strongly in the TechAmerica vision of a unified voice to speak out on taxes, trade, talent, and technology in ways that will continue the U.S. leadership of the world in innovation and application of those innovations to government at all levels. I know TechAmerica will prosper under Dan’s very capable leadership,” said Mr. Bond.
“The TechAmerica Board is certain Dan will do what he has consistently done in the past – drive value for TechAmerica’s members, deliver positive outcomes and focus on advocating for our members’ competitive interests,” added Mr. Boni. “We are extraordinarily confident in Dan, his abilities and the abilities of the rest of the outstanding TechAmerica team to move the association forward.”
“I look forward to building on the strong foundation of Phil’s efforts to ensure that the voice of America’s growth engine, the technology industry, is heard in the nation’s capital and state capitals around the country,” said Mr. Varroney.
