Washington, DC (March 3, 2011) – In a letter to Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt and NIST Director Patrick Gallagher today, TechAmerica and a group of technology trade associations and technology companies wrote that the industry is “eagerly awaiting” the final National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace and is committed to private sector leadership over efforts to address the challenges currently associated with online identity.
“The industry recognizes a clear and pressing need for strong, trusted identities online as part of a larger effort to support continued robust growth in online transactions and communications, enhance cybersecurity and protect personal privacy,” the authors wrote. “As the Administration has recognized, this goal will be achieved only with robust private-sector involvement in finalizing the strategy and with industry’s leadership in its implementation.”
The Business Software Alliance and the Information Technology Industry Council joined TechAmerica in writing the letter.
