TechAmerica Foundation’s Cyberstates 2011: Job Losses in U.S. High-Tech Industry Decline in 2010
Texas remains the second-largest cyberstate in the nation ranked by tech employment, trailing California and ahead of New York. While Texas lost 11,800 tech jobs in 2010, a three percent decline, this tracks with much of the rest of the country. Additionally, the high-tech industry in Texas had a $38.7 billion payroll in 2010. Texas’ average tech industry wage in 2010 was $84,800 – 84 percent higher than the state’s average private sector wage.
