The Future of the Health IT Workforce

The conversation is being hosted by:

Fort Lauderdale, FL

December 10, 2010
8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

The potential benefits of healthcare-enabled information technology are much on the mind of healthcare reformers today.  At issue is the extent to which the introduction of IT into health records, point of care systems, telemedicine, e-prescriptions, and related applications can improve healthcare access and quality while driving down healthcare costs.

Along with innovations in the technology itself, however, comes the difficult question of how IT-enabled healthcare solutions will impact the nursing and allied health workforce.  What new talents and skills will be required to implement, maintain and use these resources?  How will it change the state of practice?  How will healthcare delivery models evolve and will the human capital be readily available to assure successful adoption?  Will healthcare practitioners from physicians to technicians have the education and skills necessary to realize the upside potential?

TechAmerica is hosting these public policy discussion aimed at informing and shaping thought leadership around these issues. TechAmerica is the U.S. technology industry’s largest voice and resource, representing approximately 1,500 member companies of all sizes doing business in the public and commercial sectors. Events have already been held in Washington D.C., Austin, Texas and Chicago, Illinois.

Our conversation leaders include:

  • Ari Entin, MHSA, CPHIMS, Director of Information Technology, Miami-Dade County Health Department
  • Mason C. Jackson, President / CEO, Workforce One
  • Richard Kip, Director of Public Affairs, TechAmerica Mid-Atlantic / Southeast – Moderator
  • Linda S Quick, President, South Florida Hospital & Healthcare Assn
  • Alan Sivek, MBA, CPHIMS, Healthcare Management and Information Technologies
  • Bob Swindell, CEO, The Broward Alliance

Please RSVP immediately, but no later than December 5, 2010.  We have a very limited number of seats for this critical discussion.
