The annual Oregon Technology Awards program, now in its third year managed by TechAmerica Oregon, celebrates excellence and achievement in the region’s technology industry.  On May 19, 2011,  the Oregon technology community celebrated excellence and achievements in the region’s technology industry and honored one outstanding Technology Executive of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient. Cyberstates 2011

Oregon’s Semiconductor Sector is 3rd Largest in the Nation with 23,600 Jobs

Oregon’s high-tech industry lost 1,100 net jobs, a one percent decrease, for a total of 79,300 in 2010. Oregon saw slight gains in computer systems design and related services (+100 jobs), and semiconductor manufacturing (+700 jobs). The state saw its greatest losses in electronic components manufacturing employment (-400 jobs), Internet and telecommunications services (-500 jobs) and engineering services (-400). With the gains in semiconductor manufacturing, Oregon ranks 3rd nationwide in that sector with 23,600 jobs.  Press Release.

2011 Oregon Legislative Session

The 2011 Oregon Legislature has adjourned.  As it has for nearly 30 years, TechAmerica maintained a daily presence in the State Capitol, monitoring legislation and driving proposals to advance the technology industry in the state.   TechAmerica issued weekly legislative updates throughout the session.    The session was a success for TechAmerica’s legislative agenda.
